Denmark-based Lind Jensens Maskinfabrik (LJM) a leading manufacturer of high-quality hydraulic cylinders, has become the latest entrant to the long list of top international manufacturers to set up a factory at Oragadam near Chennai. LJM has a unit in China and this will be its 2nd unit in Asia.
The remarkable rise of Oragadam
Bubbling with industrial growth, Oragadam has become one of the fastest-growing suburbs of Chennai and is evolving into a multi-faceted industrial zone. Over 22 Fortune 500 companies have a presence in this location. Well-connected via road and rail, connectivity to the location will get a boost with the upcoming Oragadam Industrial Corridor Road. Apart from giving a major thrust to industrial activity in the Oragadam-Sriperumbudur cluster. It will also provide additional connectivity between Grand Southern Trunk Road (GST Road i.e. National Highway 45) and Grand Western Trunk Road (National Highway 4).
International Automobile majors like Daimler AG, Renault–Nissan, Komatsu have set up their manufacturing plants here and will use it as a base for sourcing for their international markets, apart from supplying to meet the fast-growing Indian market. Several manufacturing giants such as Motorola, Dell, Flextronics, Samsung, Apollo Tyres, and TVS Electronics and Yamaha have set up their respective units in the industrial belt stretching from Sriperumbudur to Oragadam. In addition, JCBL Ltd, Essar Steel, BPCL, Delphi TVS Diesel Systems Ltd, GE Bayer, Silicons (India) Pvt Ltd have also set up their businesses in SIPCOT Industrial Park, Oragadam.
LJM to pump in €2 million
LJM has made an initial investment of about €2 million in the new unit. The manufacturing unit which has come up in a 5000 sq m area, will produce high-quality hydraulic cylinders and accumulators for the wind turbine industry. Trial production is expected by July. The unit will go full throttle during the third quarter of this year.
