Connectivity to Oragadam got yet another boost with phase – II of the Chennai outer ring road connecting Nemilicheri with Manali opening to traffic this week. The Outer Ring Road consists of two phases. The first phase, between Vandalur and Nemilicheri, was opened for public use six years ago.
The 62 km-long Outer Ring Road (ORR) will ease the flow of traffic moving from southern districts including Oragadam to Andhra Pradesh and beyond. It will also help to reduce travel time by at least an hour in Chennai’s suburbs.
Enhanced connectivity to Orgadam features high on the state government’s priorities. Being an economic hubspot, unhindered movement is critical to the location’s development. The Chennai Outer Ring Road is one of the major infrastructure initiatives by the government to connect the industrial belt of Oragadam and surrounding areas to other parts of Tamil Nadu and beyond.
The road gives an additional dimension to Oragadam’s connectivity which is already reachable via OMR, GST, and NH-4. ORR connects NH45 (GST Road) at Vandalur, NH4 (Chennai – Bengaluru Highway) at Nazarathpet, NH 205 (Chennai – Thiruvallur) at Nemilichery, NH5 (Chennai – Nellore) at Nallur, and TPP (Tiruvottiyur Ponneri Pancheti) road at Minjur.

Popularly called the Detroit of South Asia due to the presence of 22 Fortune 500 companies, auto majors, and MNCs, the recent infrastructure measures will propel economic growth in the Oragadam belt with better connectivity.
